Jack’s Magic Stain Solution #1, The Iron, Cobalt & Spot Etching Stuff, is intended to remove those stains from pool surfaces without draining the pool. The manufacturer describes it as a non-acidic treatment. Confirm a positive reaction with the Jack’s Magic Stain ID Kit before selecting this treatment.
The stated dose is 2 pounds per 12,000 gallons, used with the sequestrant and water-balance requirements in the complete manufacturer procedure. The procedure also requires water above 65°F, turning off salt generators, and isolating or removing ionizers, mineral systems and chemical feeders.
Do not swim during the treatment. Jack’s Magic describes a treatment period of 48 hours to one week, depending on conditions. Follow all circulation, filter-cleaning and gradual re-chlorination steps. Do not shock for at least one week after stain removal because metals remaining in solution can re-stain the pool. Resume swimming only after stain removal and restoration of normal water chemistry.
